Please do not use Mapquest or any other computer program to find
CGST. They will take you over a dangerous dirt road on the edge of a
cliff. We want you to arrive safely, so remember to bring these
directions, or call Jan at 800-405-3450 for directions!
The Columbia Gorge School of Theatre takes place at the Blue Moon
Ranch, which is located 35 minutes NE of Hood River, Oregon, and 25
minutes NE of White Salmon, Washington. From Portland, take I-84
East
towards The Dalles and Hood River, Oregon. Take exit 64, and follow
the
signs to White Salmon. You'll be taking the Hood River Toll Bridge
across
the Columbia River. As you pay the 75 cent bridge toll, set your
odometer to zero. The mileage can be vary slightly in different
cars, so
keep that in mind. There are about 30-35 minutes left of travel
time.
After you cross the bridge, turn right towards White Salmon (Mile
1.0). At Oak Street (2.3), turn left--Oak Street will become Jewett.
Follow Jewett into downtown White Salmon. At the clock tower, turn
right
onto Main Street (3.8). Follow Main Street up the hill. At 4.6, turn
right onto Snowden Road, where you will see the first red and white
Columbia Gorge School of Theatre sign. Snowden Road veers
immediately to the
right (4.7). Be sure to stay on Snowden Road, and watch for the
Columbia Gorge School of Theatre signs. Snowden Road is now paved
past the
turnoff, which is a huge improvement!
At 18.3, you'll go straight off of Snowden Road onto a gravel
logging road. Continue to look for the signs to Columbia Gorge
School of
Theatre. You'll turn left at 18.6, and right at 19.2. Follow the
driveway
past the gate. After you pass the gate, you'll be at the Blue Moon
Ranch. On the left, you will see the home of Jan James, the
Executive
Director, where the main CGST office is located. You will follow the
right
fork in the driveway to the Columbia Gorge School of Theatre, at
19.8.
There you will see the log cabin, the pond, and the camp buildings.
The
dorm building is the long one right in front. Be sure to park where
the circular driveway will not be blocked. There will be staff
members in
front of the dorm to greet you. You have arrived!
